Elecsys Announces New Remote Monitoring Product

OLATHE, Kan., March 15– Elecsys Corporation (Nasdaq: ESYS), a developer of machine to machine (M2M) data acquisition, telemetry, and analysis systems for critical industries and a provider of custom electronic assemblies and displays for industries where high quality, reliability, and innovation are paramount, today announced the release of the WatchdogCP P2S-AC Cathodic Protection Test Station Monitoring System. The announcement was made at the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) International Corrosion Conference being held in San Antonio, Texas.

The product is designed to obtain IR-free pipe-to-soil potential measurements along with AC and DC corrosion current densities by integrating with either traditional buried reference cells, single, or dual coupon cathodic protection (CP) test stations. The unit also functions as a multi-channel critical bond monitor. Data is continually logged and can either be accessed through the existing Pipeline Watchdog website or retrieved from a 2GB SD memory card within the unit.

By setting value ranges and sample rate intervals through the web application, clients are able to improve pipeline integrity by analyzing trends in on/off potentials, AC values and depolarization test data. In addition, the website allows immediate access to instant-off potential measurements for complete groups of test stations and provides web-based remote control of measurement ranges, group configurations, and alarm notification settings.

Up to 10 separate remote units within a 3 mile radius can be monitored with just a single P2S-AC unit equipped with a GSM cellular or satellite modem, thereby reducing the monthly messaging cost per test station and extending test point coverage.

“The WatchdogCP P2S-AC is revolutionizing how companies monitor and log induced A/C current density, explained Jamey Hilleary, Product Manager for the WatchdogCP line. Hilleary continued, “This is an essential tool for operators with pipelines near electrical transmission corridors that are at high risk for AC current induction. Continuous monitoring of the fluctuating AC current density is the best way to ensure that AC mitigation activities are sufficiently reducing AC current to prevent rapid pipeline corrosion.”

Karl B. Gemperli, President and Chief Executive Officer, added, “Our Pipeline WatchdogCP family of remote monitoring products has been very well-received in the energy infrastructure industry. We believe that the addition of the P2S-AC system further strengthens our offering of industry-leading solutions for cathodic protection monitoring. We plan to continue expanding our business through investing in the development of innovative new products and providing reliable technology solutions for critical applications in extreme environments.

Elecsys plans to begin volume shipments of the new P2S-AC this June.
