Stay or go? Volcano forces choice for all in eruption zone

Edwin Montoya’s family carved their farm on the slopes of the Kilauea volcano out of “raw jungle,” transforming it into a fertile collection of gardens, animal pens and fruit trees. A couple of miles up the hill, lava has destroyed dozens of homes and his daughter’s farm is in an evacuation zone. SunPower loss narrows, sees $55 mln 2018 tariff impact

U.S. solar company SunPower Corp reported a smaller-than-expected quarterly loss on Tuesday on higher demand for solar panels in its U.S. residential and commercial business. SunPower is refocusing its business on so-called distributed generation (DG), or projects that generate power on-site for homes and businesses. SunPower’s high-efficiency, premium panels are well-suited to the DG market, the company said, because they can generate more power in smaller spaces than rival products. …read more […]

The White House on Tuesday unveiled its package of $15.4 billion in proposed spending cuts. The list of rescissions, as they’re called, includes 38 proposals ranging in size from about $519,000 to more than $5.1 billion.
