Bangkok Air Talking to Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier for 20 Planes

Bangkok Airways Pcl will soon submit specifications for an order of 20 narrow-body planes to Airbus SE, Boeing Co. and Bombardier Inc., its President Puttipong Prasattong-Osoth said. The carrier, which currently has 12 Airbus 319s and nine Airbus 320s, will pick one manufacturer for the order by the end of the year, Puttipong said in an interview Friday. US, China putting trade war on hold after progress in talks

The United States and China are pulling back from the brink of a trade war after the world’s two biggest economies reported progress in talks aimed at bringing down America’s massive trade deficit with Beijing. “We are putting the trade war on hold,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Sunday. After high-level talks Thursday and Friday in Washington, Beijing agreed in a joint statement with the U.S. to “substantially reduce” America’s trade deficit with China, but did not commit to cut the gap by any specific amount. …read more […]

Police: Man rams vehicle into restaurant, kills 2; injuries

A man intentionally rammed a vehicle into a North Carolina restaurant busy serving Sunday lunch, killing his daughter and another person and injuring several others, authorities said. Bessemer City Police said in a statement that preliminary evidence indicates the man purposely smashed his way into the Surf and Turf Lodge where reports say families were eating a relaxed midday meal. Cyclists tried to scare cougar but it attacked, killing 1

The two mountain bikers did what they were supposed to do when they noticed a mountain lion tailing them on a trail east of Seattle. As they stood trying to catch their breath, the cougar returned, biting one of them on the head and shaking him, Capt. Alan Myers of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Police said Sunday. The attack Saturday near North Bend, in the Cascade Mountain foothills 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of Seattle, was the first fatal cougar attack in the state in 94 years. …read more […]
