Authorities expect to make more arrests in the sex-trafficking investigation of a self-help group that’s already resulted in charges against former “Smallville” actress Allison Mack and the group’s leader, a prosecutor said Friday. A judge sharply questioned whether Special Counsel Robert Mueller overstepped his authority by charging Paul Manafort with crimes unrelated to Russian election interference while also suggesting he was indicted to coerce him to cooperate against President Donald Trump. U.S. District Judge T. S. Ellis III expressed deep skepticism Friday about whether Mueller went too far in signing a bank- and tax-fraud indictment against Manafort, who was Trump’s campaign chairman. Southwest Airlines Flight 1380 suffered a catastrophic engine failure and cabin depressurization on April 17. The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed on Thursday that the cabin depressurization was caused by pieces of the engine cowling and inlet puncturing a window when the engine exploded. Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano erupted Thursday, sending lava shooting into the air in a residential neighborhood and prompting mandatory evacuation orders for nearby homes. Hawaii County said steam and lava poured out of a crack in Leilani Estates, which is near the town of Pahoa on the Big Island.
